Information

The view appears to be taken from an upper window of the artist's house in Ashfield Road, Aigburth, Liverpool. The south gate of Sefton Park is in the background on the right. Charles Sharpe was born and trained in Liverpool and became Principal of the Laird School of Art, Birkenhead. He was closely involved in organising the series of 'Recording Merseyside' exhibitions held at the Bluecoat Chambers in the 1940s, a project which used local artistic talent to record the appearance of Liverpool and its surrounding area in a period of rapid change.
