Information

Alabastron (perfume vase) of Egyptian alabaster or calcite. Long narrow body with a rounded end, a narrow neck and a broad, splayed mouth. Ground and beautifully polished surface. The vessel has been carved to take advantage of the fine grain of the stone. Compare with PSV 963 but no lugs. CONDITION NOTE 1998: Chipped, cracked,scratched, surface dirt, label adhered to surface. Danson collection no. 130: "5 1/8 narrow top rim ??? handles, nicely marked stone, undamaged".
