Alabastron (perfume vase). Long narrow body with a rounded end, two lugs high up on the body and a narrow neck supporting a wide flat mouth. Sticker on the base "171/4" and marked in pencil "198/?".

CONDITION NOTE 1998: Previous repair, cracked surface, discoloured, surface dirt, labels adhered.

Purchased as Sotheby's, London, 20-24 January 1913 (Robert de Rustafjaell collection) Lot 171/4 "Three Alabastrons, 5 1/2 in. to 7 1/2 in. long, all slightly varied in form; and a similar Vase, in dark serpentine; the last piece very rare (PI. XIV)".
