Amulet

Round shape amulet of the type known as a 'magical gem'. It shows Chnoubis, a snake with a lion head and 6 rays on his head. Chnoubis is a common image for magical gems and perhaps an innovation of makers of magical gems. Chnoubis was originally a minor figure of Egyptian astrology but the makers of magical gems transformed him into an important solar deity because it could be easily received by different cultures. The god was associated with curing stomach ailments.
