Arthroleptis variabilis Matschie, 1893

Small (15–28 mm), squat frogs with short legs and long digits. Head with a wide mouth. Ventral surface granular. Fingers and toes not webbed, 3rd finger elongated. Dorsal coloration cryptic - brownish gray, with darker blotches, dark stripe extending from the nares to area behind the eyes.
