Information

Much of Gresty's work shows a fascination with architecture, particularly of the hill towns, walled cities and bridges of Spain and Italy. He painted in a delicately realistic style, but one which emphasized forms. This composition exploits the flowing shapes of the roof and wall, and the textures of different building materials. Gresty was born in Nelson, Lancashire, but lived in London before settling in St Ives, Cornwall, the home of many artists.
