Axe

Miniature axe of polished stone. MacGregor collection label stuck to the surface with red printed number 1770. Auction label stuck to the other side. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Chipped, worn, labels adhered to surface. Purchased by Mr Wilkes for Sir Henry Wellcome at Sotheby's London, 26 June - 6 July 1922 (MacGregor collection) Lot 1106/4: "Four others [Wedges or Model Axe-heads, in various hard stones, polished] one in flint, the others in dark hard stone".
