Painted wood figure of a Ba-bird (a human-headed bird) that was once fixed to some larger object. Collected by Rev. William Frankland Hood on one of his visits to Egypt between 1851 - 1861. Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession no. 30987: Two carved wood Ba figures (bird with man's head). One white & yellow 3 3/4" wide 2 3/4" long, the other red, yellow & blue 3 1/4" high 2 1/2" long. Purchased at Sotheby's, London (Hood collection) 11 November 1924. Lot 152 "Two lion-headed Terminals in wood ?Ptolemaic; six Hawks and two Ba Figures, various sizes, in painted wood (10)" (1924 p. 21).
