A flat rectangular bag (kete muka) made from New Zealand flax fibre with a wide fringe around the top edge and white, black and  brown feathers covering the lower part. There are two twisted fibre handles. 

The bag was made from a folded rectangle sewn along the bottom and one side. The main technique is double-pair twining, which forms the wefts (aho). This began at the top edge with a selvedge, and the ends of the loose warps (whenu) folded over to form the fringe. These are fixed by a row of twining with two warps together. There are six warps per cm and the wefts are 40 mm apart. The feathers are inserted into the wefts vertically, with shafts straight (not bent over).
