Baron Stockmar and an Usher (Costume Designs for 'Queen Victoria')
WAG 1653
Information
This watercolour painting depicts the costume designs for two grey-haired male figures from the play 'Queen Victoria'. An inscription to the right of the figure on the left identifies them as 'Stockmar'. A dark green coat is depicted buttoned up on top of white and cream clothing. They are wearing trousers of the same green shade. The figure is also wearing a red and dark yellow coloured neck tie. The face of this figure is painted with much more detail than the figure to the right, who an inscription identies as 'usher'. The figure on the right stands with one arm raised waist height holding a flat round object. They are wearing black trousers to the knee, white socks to the knee and black shoes. A white shirt is worn below a yellow/beige waistcoat with either lined or pleated detailing. An unbuttoned black tailcoat with lapels and is worn on top.
