Base for Model Figures

Rectangular piece of wood with two holes for supporting a standing model figure. Original use seems to have been a container as mitered corner fits against similar shaped piece 55.82.94. Marked with a three digit number in black - either 105 or 165. From Beni Hasan, cemetery below the Middle Kingdom rock-cut tombs: excavated by John Garstang of the Liverpool Institute of Archaeology, 1902-1904. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Surface dirt, remnants of pigmentations, some flaking.
