Basket

This pot is designed to look like a wicker basket and was used for holding flowers. Flowers in the home were very popular in the 18th century, partly for decoration and also to freshen up the living spaces with their perfume. This type of pierced pottery was very difficult to make and many pieces did not survive being fired in the kiln.
