Information

Boyd was born in Scotland and started his financial career in London. He became one of the largest investors in New South Wales when it was first colonised, owning land and carrying out many business ventures. His ventures used Pacific Islanders as a source of cheap labour, coercing or kidnapping them, and shipping them to Australia with little accomodation for their health or wellbeing. Many of these people died of illness or starvation.
