Book of the Dead Fragments

Many fragments of an illustrated chapter from the Book of the Dead, with some fine detail. All loose within one cardboard tray and tiniest pieces within a smaller cardboard tray. At least two different sizes of hieroglyphic script and two standing figures, all within a border. Perhaps 18th Dynasty. Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession no. 169233. Purchased at Sotheby's 12 November 1928 (Tabor collection), Lot 230: "Fragments of inscribed Papyrus; and specimens of Mummy Cloth, from the Hilton Price collection, in three boxes (3)". Ex Frederick George Hilton-Price collection, sold at Sotheby's, London, 12-17 July 1911. CONDITION NOTE 1998: Old insect infestation, some splitting, discolouration, salts on surface.
