Bowl, one of a pair ( to LL 6153) with everted rim, painted with bands of lotus scrolls inside and out. Border of growing lotus flowers within and stiff leaves outside. The lotus flower is a Buddhist symbol of purity and a very common decorative motif. These bowls may have been intended for use on an altar in China rather than for export. Mark of the Kangxi period; in six characters, in a double ring.
