Open form bowl, with narrow flat base. Polished surface. Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 1922 (MacGregor sale) Lot 1064/5: "Five miscellaneous Bowls, in black basalt and greenish slate, and a flat-bottomed Vessel in mottled marble, the larger of the bowls and the flat-bottomed bowl in slate; found at Luxor; Ancient Empire."
