Pottery bowl. Marked in ink "BUHEN TOWN 1962-63 No 62". From Buhen, the former ancient Egyptian fortress outpost in Lower Nubia (Sudan) that in 1964 was entirely submerged beneath the reservoir waters behind the Aswan High Dam. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Previously repaired, chipped around break edges, adhesive on surface, some areas of loss, chipped rim, surface dirt and discolouration.
