Information
A boat-shaped lidded bowl with a looped handle on the lid and carved tiki (humanoid) figures at each end forming legs. The tiki have round eyes, with shell inlay on the eyes of one figure, and each 'leg' has a flat base. All carved decoration is on the outside of the bowl. The main design elements are three panels on the base and two on the lid, each panel with three large rolling double spirals. The surface patterns are carved using pakati (dog's-tooth notches) and haehae (parallel grooves), including double spirals on the buttocks of one of the tiki, and long 'ovals' on the other. The lid and the base slot together via two rectangular pegs and holes. One peg is missing. A label attached has the letters 'T M A'.
