Bowl with figures of Shou Lou and Eight immortals

Bowl with rounded sides, sharply everted rim, and small base. On the sides is a broad band delicately pierced with swastika fret, interrupted by five medallions in which are figures in high relief in unglazed biscuit. In one medallion is Shou Lou, god of long life, and in the others are the Eight Immortals in pairs. Above and below are cloud and foliage designs traced in white slip and partially glazed. The remainder of the surface is glazed white. An example of the extremely delicate pierced work.
