Bowl (Forgery)

Ceramic bowl with faded green/blue glaze and painted black decoration of a pool with four fish, lotus flowers & ?bees. The outside is painted with a stylised lotus pattern. Repaired from fragments in 1972. Displayed in 1976 and first recorded as a forgery in January 1982 (personal communication between Mrs Margaret Warhurst and Dr Angela Milward). Possibly MacGregor Collection lot. 183. Compare with a bowl with the same style of decoration illustrated in the 12-14 November 1917 sale of the Grenfell collection (lot 208).
