Information

A lid for a boat-shaped waka huia (treasure box), with pointed ends cut straight. All carved decoration is on the outside of the lid. The main design elements are interlocking 'v' shapes at each end and koru (bulbed hook shapes) and linear elements along the middle section, formed by three ridges. The rest of the pattern is based on diagonal rauponga (several parallel ridges and grooves with a notched ridge in between).
