Box

Box assembled from ancient fragments of wood, nailed together to give the appearance of a shabti box. Plain exterior. On the interior the original coffin decoration (a band of text) can be seen on one fragment. Samuel Birch suggested it was made from coffin fragments in modern times. Would sem to be a creation of Mr Joseph Sams. Label 168. CONDITION NOTE 1998; Old infestation, extensive mould growth, metal pins in places, some splitting, discolouration.
