Information

A base for a rounded rectangular waka huia (treasure box), with humanoid heads at each end with holes through their necks. There is a raised lip around the edge of the interior. All carved decoration is on the outside. The main design elements are rolling spirals and curved ridges in lozenge and triangular sections. There is a rectangular section with rauponga (several parallel ridges and grooves with a notched ridge in between) at one end.
