Box Panel



Panel from a decorated box, most likely tomb equipment such as a canopic chest. One side applied with plaster and painted with the image of a demon with human body and the head of a vulture and a feather - a defender of truth and justice. Mummiform, standing and holding a looped sash. Before it is another standing figure, but only a small part of the back is preserved. The underside is plain wood. Dowel holes at the edges. Paper label stuck to the surface numbered 186. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Old infestation, dry, concretions, label sellotaped to surface, some surface loss, some cracking, surface dirt.
