MLL.2007.5.12

Information

Broad-band arm-ring or bracelet decorated with lattice bar stamp. Penannular, with punched ornament; complete. Bent roughly in half and flattened, it tapers strongly from an expanded mid-portion to the terminals, one of which is sub-rectangular in form, the other asymmetrically rounded. A poorly executed diagonal cross occurs slightly off-centre on the outer face, comprising four impressions formed with a punch with a lattice-type design, with each recessed lozenge featuring either one or two pellets. To one side of this is a zone of bungled and over-struck chevron motifs, with the other side featuring a zone of vertical (transverse) and oblique stamps and two diagonal crosses; on both sides, a row of vertical (transverse) bar-stamping extends to the terminals. Discovered as part of the Huxley Hoard. Width 10mm (min) - 20mm (max) Height 5mm (min) - 9mm (max) Thickness 2mm
