MLL.2007.5.13
Information
Broad-band arm-ring or bracelet with serrated bar stamp diagonally chevrons. Penannular, with punched ornament; portion of one terminal area has been cut off from the direction of the inner face. Bent roughly in half and flattened, it tapers strongly from an expanded mid-portion towards the terminals, the extant example of which is rounded. The outer face is ornamented with closely spaced bar-stamping, applied obliquely and disposed so as to form a row of chevrons, formed with a punch with a raised median line and finely serrated edges, to either side of a central diagonal cross with a vertical (transverse) part stamp impression in both its outer angles and closed by a vertical impression on either side; both terminal areas feature a vertical impression and a diagonal cross, with the complete example terminating with two further vertical impressions. Discovered as part of the Huxley Hoard.
