Brooch

M7096

Information

A radiate-headed brooch. It has 5 three-part knobs, and the headplate has a grooved border that encloses a crude double spiral motive. There are zig-zag down sides at the bow and alternating diagonal and chequer motifs at the side of foot. The top of the head has a pierced hole. At the top of the foot there are 2 rivet-holes with iron remain, probably suggesting an attempt to replace the catchplate. On the back of the head there are double attachment lugs with remains of an iron spring-coil.
