Brooch

M12114

Information

Flat coil of bronze wire, outer end finished in a circular twist. Traces of an iron attachment on the back surface. Broken from a larger object. Although fragmentary, this piece was probably part of an Italic brooch inspired by the "spectacle fibulas" common in parts of Italy, especially the Adriatic region, but also in Macedonia and elsewhere. "Spectacle fibulas” are composed of two coils of bronze wire and a very simple clasp.
