D/B/105/C/1

Information

From the Guide to the Records of Merseyside Maritime Museum, volume 2: George Seddon, a watchmaker originally from Liverpool, left Britain c.1843 on account of mounting debt. He became a seaman and travelled the world for six years, joining the Californian Gold Rush. He wrote home from San Francisco, to his brother in law, Ralph, describing his travels and later settled on the Sandwich Islands as a watchmaker. Some further letters involve the settlement of his estate.
