From Burgate Hill

This watercolour was accepted by the author SH Paviere, in his 1950 book 'The Devis Family of Painters' (page 74), as a picture by Anthony Devis. Burgate Hill is only about seven miles from Albury where Devis lived from 1780 until his death in 1816. This drawing would probably therefore date from the last 36 years of Devis' life. The view is from Burgate Hill looking north towards Guildford.
