Information

Wedgwood studied at Liverpool School of Art (1919 - 1921) and the Royal College of Art. He won the prestigious Prix de Rome in Engraving in 1925. He taught at the Liverpool Institute and the Liverpool School of Art in the 1930s. Liverpool University holds a large collection of prints by Wedgwood, the majority of which were collected by Sydney Jones, Wedgwood's patron and major benefactor of Liverpool University. This drawing on tracing paper is laid over WAG 9151 in the Walker's collection to make a more complete and detailed image. Together, they were submitted as part of Wedgwood's entry into the Prix de Rome, suggesting they were used to demonstrate Wedgwood's working methods for printmaking.
