Candlestick

Solid cast tripod base for large candelabrum or utensil stand, resting on plump, leonine feet with dew claw. Legs are curved, with extra up turned leaf shape on upper surface. Palmettes pendant from grooved volutes separate the legs. The upper section is hexagonally facetted, as was the shaft, presumably, ending in one beaded moulding. Inside the open end of the base is the broken rectangular tang which originally secured the shaft. On the underside, each leg is treated three dimensionally as if it were separate.
