Canopic jar containing some remains of strong smelling black coloured resinous material. Smooth outer surface, with a few scratches. Two numbered stickers at top of jar - one "395/6" other "...82". Diameter of the base is 116 mm. Depth of interior is 146mm. Fits with jackal-headed jar no. 1973.2.348. Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession no. 59883: Limestone Jackal-headed, Qebsennuf 14 1/2 in. x 6 1/2 in. diameter. Egyptian XXIIIrd Dynasty; Purchased by at Sotheby's, London, (Bethell Sale) 15-17 December 1924, lot 395 ("three limestone canopic jars with heads of Hapi, Duamutef and Qebsennef").
