Lid of a canopic jar. Yellow painted human face with black wig. Moulded facial features. Paint missing in many places revealing red pottery surface. From tomb 371 at Abydos, excavated by John Garstang of Liverpool University in 1907. Garstang recorded 5 items from the tomb including "fragments of inscribed canopic jar" and "fragments of faience inlay from coffins". An archive image exists in the Garstang Museum of Archaeology, University of Liverpool (Neg. A.666). William Hesketh Lever was a member of the Abydos Excavation Committee in 1907.
