Canopic Jar of Sobeknakht

Squat shaped canopic jar with with broad shoulders. Inscribed for a man called Sobek-nakht. Seven short columns of hieroglyphic text in black begin with the formular, "Words spoken by Isis: 'May your arms embrace". For the name Sobek-nakht see Ranke p.304, no. 15. Has been displayed with Canopic Jar Lid 1973.2.336. Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession number 1914. Purchased at Stevens's Auction Rooms Ltd., London, 5-6 February 1929 lot 68.
