Caricature of Geoffrey Wedgwood

This is a caricature of the noted Liverpool engraver Geoffrey Wedgwood (1900 - 1970). It was previously owned by Liverpool architect Herbert Thearle (1903 - 1971). The two artists had met in Rome, Wedgwood having won the prestigious Prix de Rome for Engraving in 1925, and Thearle having won the Rome prize in 1926. The artist was friends with both Wedgwood and Thearle and all three where strongly connected the Liverpool School of Art.
