Information
Albert Lipczinski and artist George Harris (1878-1929) were early members of the Sandon Studios Society, a progressive art school established in 1905 by a group of local artists. The Society was founded by former students of Liverpool University’s School of Architecture and Applied Art, known locally as the ‘Art Sheds’.
In 1911, Harris started a career as a stage designer at Liverpool’s Repertory Theatre (now known as the Liverpool Playhouse Theatre). Some of his costume designs and caricatures can be found in the Walker collection.
