Carved Wall Decoration

1989.180.2

Information

Mrs E. A. Main, a resident of New Brighton on the south side of the River Mersey, donated this carved wooden wall decoration in the form of a Benin Oba to the museum in Liverpool in 1989. She acquired it as part of a pair with 1989.180.3 from her brother, who in turn acquired them from a brother-in-law, whom she described as having been an architect and seaman in West Africa, Port Harcourt and Lagos during the late 1960s.
