Causus maculatus (Hallowell, 1842)

Small, stout viper with short, distinct head. Back usually grey or brown with a number of dark brown or blackish blotches down the body, usually a characteristic V-shaped mark on the head. Belly may be white, cream or pinkish-grey. Length up to 70 cm.
