Copy print of a photograph taken in 1929. An alternate image was published in the Liverpool Echo on 7 November 1929. Caption on verso, written by Harold Robert Yates, reads: "This photograph taken at the Royal Liverpool Seamen's Orphanage (now Park Hospital) Newsham Park, Liverpool, just prior to Christmas [...] It was a press agency photograph taken by Morath's 44 Whitechapel Liverpool, and published in the Liverpool Echo the caption being, so far as I can remember 'Children of the Seamen's Orphanage practising carols for Christmas'. The children shown were all members of the orphanage choir (church). This was a posed photograph taken on the front lawn of the orphanage building. Choir practise for hymns and carols would normally take place in the chapel. I (Harold Robert (Bob) Yates am third from left in back row. Second girl from right in rear row is Jessie McCulloch and the boy sitting on left of front row is Gordon England. I can't remember any other names".
