Liverpool's Anglo-Chinese community is one of the oldest in Europe, dating from the 1860s. 

Mrs Chan moved to Liverpool from China in 1987. She carried this musical ornament in her arms for the full journey from China to Hong Kong by train. She then flew to the UK. It is the only object she brought with her to remind her of home. It plays a traditional Madarin tune.
