Choker or necklace. Length of birch bark wrapped in quillwork decoration. Black thread may be a later repair. Quillwork was used in the formal dress of Indigenous Tribal Chiefs. Quillwork is a form of textile embellishment traditionally practiced by Indigenous North Americans utilising the quills of porcupines, and occasionally bird feathers.
