Christ Bound to the Column

The figure was possibly originally intended for a Flagellation group with soldiers and executioners on either side. Although we do not know the maker of this statuette, similar figures have been attributed to the Flemish sculptor Francois Duquesnoy (or Frans van Kenoy, 1594 - 1643) who worked in Italy and to the Italian Alessandro Algardi (1598 - 1654).
