The Chronicle Rolls - Genealogy of Christ, with Chronicle of Popes and Emperors

The ‘Genealogy of Christ, with Chronicle of Popes and Emperors’ was probably made in England around 1250. This 'chronicle roll' traces the family tree of the Bible from Adam and Eve to Jesus and the twelve apostles, who are illustrated in this image from the roll along with the Emperor Augustus, on the right. There are several verions of the roll in existence. Their production is commonly associated with the French theologian Peter of Poitiers. The Walker's version was made after his death and it is thought it was made by one the theologian's pupils or associates.
