The Circumcision

The Circumcision was another popular theme among the Malinois producers of alabaster reliefs. Here figures are gathered round a clothed table, and the figure on the right holds a small child. There are other variants of this work in the Stradtisches Museum, Trier and in the Musee de Namur. It is in its original frame but lacking its original decoration.
