Clench nail

An iron clench nail. Functional and structural iron remained similar in form between the early medieval and post-medieval periods however a later medieval date is likely for this object due to the date of collection in the 1870s-1890s and the date of other material culture collected at this time. Found on the shore at Meols. Meols catalogue number 2442, (Griffiths, D; Philpott, R; Egan, G, 2007).
