Clergyman with Books Under His Arm

Roberts was born on London Road, Liverpool, on the 5 February 1831. His father was a house painter, Benjamin Roberts, who also painted and taught his son. He exhibited still-life and genre subjects at the Liverpool Academy between 1850 and 1865 and at the Liverpool Autumn Exhibition in 1872.
