A fragment of cloth in wool and linen, coloured natural, red, indigo, blue, turquoise, olive, pink, fawn and green.  A series of panels, the top one consisting of rows of scallops, the centre a square with lozenge motifs and rosettes, the bottom panel a beautifully delineated angel or saint with a cross on the forehead. The corners are filled with floral motifs and a single rose spray appears on the main ground. The whole piece is bordered by circles, with a design resembling the Chinese Yin-Yan, on a part-coloured ground. A single square jewel appears below the figure, the border circles also possibly representing jewels. The delineation of the angel strongly resembles certain Byzantine designs.
