Fragment of square panel in wool and linen. Square has half-circle on each side. Ground: wool - evidence of serving onto linen ground. Colours: purple, and natural. Motif: central square with geometric pattern based on Greek Key, surrounded by vine wreath border. Half-circles conain a large vine leaf, with a smaller one on each side. Technique: built-up shapes, curved weft, slits, soumak decoration woven over surface and straight lines round a siingle warp thread. Lines of self coloured weft inserted to form short diagonal lines.

Ends per cm 6; Picks per cm 46.

CONDITION: Worn and frayed.
