Coffin Fragment

Fragment of a coffin, with three sides prepared with plaster and painted with polychrome decoration over a yellow paint background. Inscribed with some text and a representation of a male figure pouring a liquid as an offering. Previous collector number 6494. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Wood is splitting, surface dirt, surface loss, loss of decoration, surface dirt, labels adhered to surface. Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 23 July 1930 ("the property of a lady") Lot 42 "Fragment of a Mummy Case with painted figures of a man making an offering".
